General Information

A cluster of three towns, Warangal - Kazipet - Hanamkonda present images of the awe-inspiring Kakatiya splendour. The barren tract to the north east of Hyderabad(Andhra Pradesh, India) 157 km away was the base of the Chalukyan feudatories, the Kakatiyas, named after the family deity Kakati. It was Prodaraja who founded Warangal and made it the capital of the kingdom. The reign of Rudradeva, the first sovereign ruler of the line saw the Kakatiya architecture flourish. The thousand pillard temple with its star shaped shrines dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Surya, the famous Ramappa temple & lake, the Pakhal lake and eturnagaram wild life are worth visiting.
